Recently, as approved at the 60th meeting of the Jiangsu Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee, Jiangsu Provincial Agricultural Committee Announcement No. 6 of 2016, the new conventional japonica rice variety "Changnongjing No. 10" bred by the Changshu Agricultural Science Institute passed the Jiangsu Provincial Approval. Approval number: Sushendao 201610. So far, 24 new rice varieties and combinations (sterile lines) have been approved (identified) by the Changshu Agricultural Science Institute.
"Changnongjing No. 10" was originally named "Changjing 12-9", named after Zhendao 196/Wu 2105 // Zhongwanjing 06/Yangjing 3118. It was bred in 2011 and is a late-maturing medium japonica rice variety. Participated in regional trials in Jiangsu Province from 2013 to 2014, with an average two-year yield of 686.2 kilograms per mu, an increase of 3.3% compared to the control Wuyunjing 23; in the production trial in 2015, the average yield per mu was 736.3 kilograms, an increase of 5.5% compared to the control Wuyunjing 23. This variety has moderate plant type distribution, strong tillering ability, tall leaves, green leaf color, good group uniformity, high panicle rate, large panicle shape, medium grain density, and good color change in the later period. According to the 2015 test by the Food Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the rice quality physical and chemical indicators are: polished rice rate 70.8%, chalkiness rate 12%, chalkiness 3.0%, gel consistency 70 mm, amylose content 15.0%, reaching the national second-level high-quality rice standard, and is suitable for planting along the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province and in southern Jiangsu.
The Changshu Agricultural Science Institute, located in the main core area of the National Agricultural Science and Technology Park in Changshu, Jiangsu, is a scientific research unit mainly engaged in the selection, introduction, testing and promotion of new crop varieties.
